Tabula Rasa Holiday Give-Back

This holiday season I organized a holiday give-back through the boutique Tabula Rasa. The month long event aimed to collect gently used winter clothing for local youth shelter, Eva's Initiatives. We also collected various items for the local women's shelter, Interval House through our special gift-drive saturdays. The event was very successful in collecting items for both organizations and gaining positive press and media attention for the store.

Below are some articles written about the event:

Ashley Rowe

I had the pleasure of assisting designer Ashley Rowe in September with the production of her SS11 show. The presentation attracted lots of positive media and industry attention. Her line was filled with amazing tie-dyed pieces, which she accomplished using various dyeing techniques, the most interesting using a tennis ball. The experience was really great and reminded me how much I love working on shows and events. I was mainly responsible for managing the press and media invites, scheduling all day-to-day activities, venue and show setup, delegating tasks to all volunteers, coordinating all press interviews and anything else the designer needed.

Here are some photos of the event and her collection, courtesy of Jenna Wakani and Kevin Gonsalves.

the Character of Fashion

For my thesis project at Ryerson I produced a book with ten photoshoots I styled and photographed. Although I've been done with the project for a while, I put so much of my heart into them that it's time I post them here. The idea behind the book was the way the books one reads as a child go on to influence their personal sense of fashion. Specifically, the characters one relates to or admires ultimately shape who they become and can be seen referenced in their day-to-day style. For me, growing up in my dad's bookstore I would lose myself in these books and imagine myself as the various protagonists. I think it's these characters that contributed to my love of imaginative and quirky fashion.

To begin, my favourite. The girl who lives in the plaza and always find herself in some kind of mischief, Eloise.
